El'Druin, Sword of Justice: Is D4's New Mythic Worth It?

El'Druin joins D4's Mythic Cache in 3.1.1. See its affixes, best builds, and value — then scan your own sword at StatVerdict.

The Lord of Hatred expansion keeps dropping bombs on us, and patch 3.1.1 is delivering one of the most anticipated additions of Season 14: El'Druin, the Sword of Justice. Tyrael's iconic blade is finally a craftable Mythic Unique, and every melee build in the game is asking the same question — is it actually worth the Mythic Cache pull, or is it just a shiny lore trophy? Let's break down its affixes, who wants it, and how to squeeze max value out of it.

El'Druin's Affix Profile and Guaranteed Uniques

As of patch 3.1.0, all Uniques drop with 2 guaranteed affixes, and El'Druin follows that rule with two flavor-perfect powers baked in:

Beyond those two Unique powers, El'Druin rolls a strong standard affix pool: +Damage to Crowd-Controlled Enemies, Critical Strike Damage, Core Skill Damage, and Maximum Life. It's a two-handed sword with a high base weapon Item Power, so it drives every damage multiplier on your sheet. When you craft it as a Mythic, all four of those greater-affix slots come in hot.

Which Classes and Builds Actually Want It

El'Druin is a two-hander, so the first thing to understand is weapon-slot competition. Any build slotting this gives up a dual-wield damage setup or an off-hand entirely, so the payoff has to be real.

Paladin (Lord of Hatred class)

This is the obvious home. The new Paladin's Consecration and Holy Judgment builds scale directly off holy damage waves, and Judgment's Edge stacks on top of that identity like it was designed for the class — because it basically was. Pair El'Druin with a Consecration-uptime build and Blade of Reckoning's CC-triggered Attack Speed keeps your rotation flowing without a single dead cast. For Paladins, this is arguably a best-in-slot two-hander the moment it drops.

Barbarian

Two-Handed Sword Barbarians running Death Blow or Upheaval love the raw base damage and the CC synergy. Barbs generate crowd control constantly through Ground Stomp and Charge, so Blade of Reckoning's Attack Speed and Damage Reduction are almost permanently active. If you're on a slot-weapon expertise setup, El'Druin fits cleanly.

Necromancer and Druid

Both can make use of the CC-scaling, but they're competing against established Mythics in the two-hander slot. Consider El'Druin here only if your build already leans hard into freeze, stun, or chill.

How to Get El'Druin from the Mythic Unique Cache

There are two paths to El'Druin in Season 14, and both run through the Horadric Cube and your Blacksmith.

A reminder while you're farming Ruptures: keep an eye on your Magic and Rare drops. Anything with a Greater Affix is a Horadric Cube crafting candidate — never salvage those. You'll want the materials for exactly this kind of Mythic project.

Enchanting and Tempering: The Mythic Max-Roll Advantage

Here's where Season 14 gets spicy. Patch 3.1.0 opened up Enchanting on Uniques and Mythic Uniques — and the killer detail: on Mythics, any added affix is always max-rolled.

That changes El'Druin's ceiling completely. If your Mythic rolled with, say, Maximum Life in a slot you'd rather have as Critical Strike Damage, enchant it — and the new affix comes in at its maximum value, no reroll gambling on the range. For a two-hander driving your entire multiplier stack, a max-rolled Crit Damage or Vulnerable Damage line is a massive DPS swing.

Tempering still applies on top for your build-defining manual affix (Consecration size, Core Skill ranks, whatever your build needs), so a fully optimized El'Druin looks like: two guaranteed Unique powers, four greater affixes, a max-rolled enchant, and a tempered build-enabler. That's a legitimate endgame weapon.

Before you burn precious enchant mats, it's worth confirming the sword is worth investing in. Drop your El'Druin into statverdict.com to see how its base roll grades — if it's already sitting at S-tier, you know exactly which affix to target with your one guaranteed max-roll.

The Verdict

El'Druin is the real deal for the right build. For Season 14 Paladins it's near best-in-slot, and Two-Handed Sword Barbarians will be thrilled. The guaranteed CC-scaling powers, the Mythic max-roll enchant, and the high base weapon damage combine into a weapon that earns its Cache slot — provided you actually play into crowd control and holy/core scaling. If your build dual-wields or leans elsewhere, the two-hander opportunity cost may not pay off.
