7 Items You Should NEVER Salvage in Diablo IV S14

Don't trash your best crafting mats! See the 7 D4 S14 items worth keeping — check any drop instantly at StatVerdict.

We've all done it. You're mid-Pandemonium Rupture, your inventory is packed to the brim, and you start mass-salvaging everything that isn't a shiny Unique. It feels efficient. It also might be quietly destroying some of the best crafting material in Season 14. Patch 3.1.0 completely reworked how the Horadric Cube, Mythic conversion, and Enchanting interact — and that means a lot of "junk" drops are actually keepers now.

So before you hit that salvage button again, here are the 7 items you should absolutely never feed to the blacksmith in Season of Death Awakening.

1. Magic & Rare Items With Greater Affixes

This is the big one, and it's the mistake I see most often. In S14, Magic and Rare items rolling a Greater Affix (the ones with the little asterisk marking a boosted roll) are prime Horadric Cube crafting candidates — not salvage fodder.

Why? The Cube lets you transfer and combine those inflated affix values into higher-tier gear. A Rare ring with a Greater Affix on Critical Strike Chance or Resource Generation can become the backbone of a min-maxed piece. Salvage it and you've thrown away a roll you can't easily replicate.

The tricky part is spotting Greater Affixes when you're moving fast. If you're not sure whether that Rare chest armor is carrying a hidden gem, scan it at statverdict.com before you commit. A two-second screenshot check beats a five-hour grind to replace what you accidentally trashed.

2. Any 850+ Item Power Base Unique

Here's the rule that changed everyone's loot filter this season: any Unique at 850+ Item Power can be crafted into a Mythic Unique via the Horadric Cube. That makes high-IP base Uniques your only inputs for Mythic conversion.

The output always lands in the same gear slot as the input, so you want a healthy stockpile across every slot — helms, gloves, boots, weapons, the works. Even Uniques that are mediocre for your current build are worth holding, because they're raw Mythic fuel.

A few things to keep in mind:

If you're staring at a stack of Uniques wondering which clear the 850 threshold and which are worth converting first, run them through statverdict.com for an instant grade and verdict.

3. Mythic Uniques You've Already Made (Don't Over-Craft)

This one's less about salvaging and more about not wasting a good Mythic — but it belongs here because players are burning resources trying to "improve" gear that can't be improved.

Here's the catch: Mythic Uniques cannot be fed back into the Upgrade recipe. Once you've crafted a Mythic, that's the ceiling for that particular conversion path. You can't recycle it into another Mythic, and you can't Cube it again for a better output.

What this means in practice:

Treat every Mythic conversion like a one-way door, because it is.

4. Enchanting-Worthy Uniques (Yes, Really)

Old habits say Uniques are locked-in stat sticks you either keep or trash. Not anymore. In Season 14, Enchanting now works on Uniques and Mythic Uniques — which flips a lot of gear from "salvage" to "salvageable project."

That means a Unique with one perfect affix and one dud can now have that dud rerolled. Before you toss a near-BiS Unique because a single stat rolled wrong, remember you can fix it at the Enchantress.

And here's the part that makes Mythics absurdly strong this season: added affixes are max-rolled on Mythics. When you Enchant a Mythic Unique, the new affix comes in at its ceiling value — no more praying for a good roll. That turns Mythic conversion into a genuinely deterministic upgrade path if you plan around it.

So a Unique that's "so close" to perfect is worth keeping and enchanting, not scrapping.

5. Uniques With Strong Tempering Potential

Tied directly to the Enchanting change: because Uniques and Mythics now support this kind of affix work, a Unique with a solid base + Greater Affix combo becomes a Tempering-and-Enchanting canvas. A piece you might've written off for missing one stat can be shaped into a build-defining item.

Before you salvage a Unique that's almost there, ask whether one Enchant or temper closes the gap. Often it does. When in doubt, screenshot it and let StatVerdict grade the ceiling for you.

6. Off-Slot Uniques for Alternate Builds

With every Unique dropping with 2 guaranteed affixes now, off-meta and off-class Uniques carry more baseline value than they used to. If you're leveling a second character or theorycrafting a swap — Barbarian to Sorcerer, say — those "useless" drops are next week's starter gear.

Bank a small stash of high-IP off-slot Uniques. Between Mythic conversion inputs and alt-build seeds, they earn their inventory space.

7. Anything You Haven't Actually Checked Yet

The simplest rule of all: don't salvage what you haven't evaluated. S14's overlapping systems — Greater Affixes, Mythic conversion, Unique Enchanting — mean value is hiding in places it didn't used to. A Rare that looks like vendor trash might be carrying a Greater Affix worth building around.

That's exactly what StatVerdict is for. Screenshot the item, upload it, and get an instant S/A/B/C/D grade and verdict so you know whether it's a keeper or a salvage. It's free, it's fast, and it'll save you from your own itchy salvage finger.

The Bottom Line

Season 14 turned a lot of "trash" into treasure. Magic and Rare items with Greater Affixes are Horadric Cube gold, 850+ Uniques are your only Mythic fuel, finished Mythics can't be recycled so craft with intent, and Enchanting on Uniques — with max-rolled affixes on Mythics — means near-perfect gear is worth saving and fixing rather than scrapping. When in doubt, don't guess.
