Patch 3.2.3: 4 Affixes You Can Now Reroll in the Cube

Patch 3.2.3 unblocked Cube rerolls for 4 affixes. See which items are no longer salvage — scan yours free at statverdict.com.

Patch 3.2.3 is a bug-fix patch — no balance changes, no new affixes, nothing that moves an item's value. But one line in the notes matters enough to change what you salvage. The Horadric Cube can now reroll four affixes it previously choked on, and that means some items you'd have broken down last week are keepers today. Let's break down exactly what changed and how to act on it.

The Bug: Four Affixes the Cube Couldn't Reroll

Patch 3.2.3 is bug-fixes-only. The headline for anyone who crafts: the Horadric Cube's reroll could not touch four specific affixes, and now it can. Those four are:

If one of those was sitting on your gear at a weak roll, the Cube simply refused to budge it — a bug, not a design choice. That's fixed. All four are now rerollable through the Cube like any other base affix. No item values changed in 3.2.3; the only thing that changed is that these four are no longer stuck.

How Affix Value Reroll Actually Works

This fix only matters because of how the Cube's reroll recipe is built. Affix Value Reroll rerolls all base affixes on an item while protecting the parts you worked for: Greater Affixes, Enchanted affixes, Tempers, and Transfigurations (the last only while the item isn't Unmodifiable). It works on both equipment and Talisman items — Charms and Seals.

That protection is the whole point. The recipe doesn't blow up your item and start fresh — it reaches in, leaves your Greater Affixes exactly as they are, and rerolls the ordinary base rolls around them. So an item that landed a couple of strong Greater Affixes but got saddled with a garbage base roll isn't a lost cause. You keep the GAs, reroll the base, and try again.

Before 3.2.3, that promise had a hole in it. If the weak base roll happened to be Impairment Reduction, Barrier Generation, +Healing, or Critical Strike Damage, Affix Value Reroll couldn't do anything about it. The GAs were protected and the junk affix was, effectively, protected too — just not in a way that helped you. That dead end is gone.

The Practical Change: A Salvage Becomes a Keeper

Here's the concrete scenario. Say you pull a ring with two excellent Greater Affixes for your build — but a base Critical Strike Damage roll that landed at the bottom of its range. Last week, you had no clean way to fix that base roll, and depending on the rest of the item it might have been headed for the salvage pile. Now you keep it, run Affix Value Reroll, and the protected Greater Affixes stay put while that stuck Critical Strike Damage roll gets another spin.

The same logic applies to a +Healing roll on a chest, a Barrier Generation roll on a helm, or Impairment Reduction anywhere it shows up weak. The item isn't defined by its worst base roll anymore — it's defined by its Greater Affixes, with the base rolls as something you can now grind toward.

Before you write off any item, the key question is simple: is its weak base roll one of these four, and are the Greater Affixes worth protecting? That decides whether you keep and reroll or break it down.

Check whether your item's weak base roll is one of the four newly rerollable affixes — and whether its Greater Affixes are worth protecting before you decide to keep it.

Where This Hits Hardest

Because Barrier Generation, +Healing, and Impairment Reduction are defensive utility rolls, this change rewards anyone building around survivability — but it's Critical Strike Damage that touches the most builds. A damage build that landed strong Greater Affixes and a weak Critical Strike Damage base used to have a frustrating ceiling it couldn't fix. That ceiling is now a reroll away.

Don't forget the recipe reaches your Talisman items too. Affix Value Reroll works on Charms and Seals, protecting their Greater Affixes the same way. If one of your Charms carries a weak roll in one of the four affixes above, it's now subject to the same keep-and-reroll logic as your equipment. And remember the broader lesson that recipe teaches: an item with strong Greater Affixes and a poor base roll is recoverable rather than dead. A Magic or Rare item carrying a Greater Affix is a crafting candidate — never salvage it on sight.

Also in 3.2.3: The Prime Evil Powers Fix

One more fix is worth knowing if you've been locked out of your seasonal payoff. Patch 3.2.3 corrected a bug where a character could use a Splinter of a Prime Evil before finishing the Seasonal questline — which then blocked that character from completing the questline and unlocking Prime Evil Powers.

The important part: the fix prevents the bug going forward but does not repair characters already stuck. If you're one of them, the path back is specific. You need to create a brand-new character in the same partition — that's Normal/Hardcore and Normal/SSF — and complete the seasonal questline on that fresh character. Doing so unlocks Prime Evil Powers for every character in that partition. There's no in-place reset for the bugged character, so if this is you, don't wait around hoping for a retroactive fix that isn't coming.

This is character progression, not an item property, so it never shows up on a tooltip — but it's the kind of thing that leaves players quietly confused about why their seasonal mechanic won't unlock. If you remember equipping a Prime Evil Splinter unusually early, that's your culprit.

The Bottom Line

Patch 3.2.3 changes no item values, but it quietly raises the floor on what counts as a keeper. Four affixes — Impairment Reduction, Barrier Generation, +Healing, and Critical Strike Damage — can now be rerolled through the Horadric Cube's Affix Value Reroll, which already protects your Greater Affixes, Enchanted affixes, Tempers, and Transfigurations. An item you'd have salvaged over a stuck base roll in one of those four is worth a second look. And if your Prime Evil Powers never unlocked, a fresh character in the same partition is your way in. Re-examine anything you set aside last week over a bad roll in those four affixes — some of it just became recoverable.
