Season 15 Helltide Farming: Splinters, Rep & Loot Loop

Farm Soul Splinters, War Plans rep, and materials fast in Season 15 Helltides. Scan your Helltide haul at statverdict.com to keep what matters.

Helltides are the beating heart of Season 15 — Season of Hell's Legacy. But this season they're pulling double and triple duty: they're a Soul Splinter source, a War Plans reputation grind, and a crafting-material faucet all at once, and if you're running them the same way you ran them last season you're leaving loot on the table. Let's break down the full Helltide loop, how the Splinter of Terror plugs into it, and how to sort the mountain of gear it dumps on you without salvaging something you'll regret.

The Splinter of Terror and the Helltide Loop

The seasonal Splinters of Evil are a progression system, not jewelry — keep that distinction front of mind, because Soul Splinters (the socketables) share a confusingly similar name. You collect three Prime Evil Splinters through the seasonal questline: Diablo's Splinter of Terror, Baal's Splinter of Destruction, and Mephisto's Splinter of Hatred. The catch: only one can be borne at a time, and you swap it at the largest Waking Nightmares.

The Splinter of Terror is the one you want bound before a Helltide farm. Its Iconic Power is Fire, and it specifically modifies Helltide and Infernal Hordes (it also modifies the Tree of Whispers, like all three do). Each Splinter's track carries eight activity modifiers and six upgrades to its Iconic Power, all unlocked through War Plans reputation. So the Splinter you bear and the content you farm should match — bearing Terror while grinding Helltides means every rep point you earn is feeding the track that buffs the exact activity you're standing in.

One trade-off to respect: bearing a Splinter also makes you more vulnerable to that Prime Evil. Terror is Fire, so expect to take more heat while you're carrying it. Factor that into your resistance setup before you dive in.

The Single-Window Multi-Farm Routine

The whole point of lining up Terror with Helltides is that one Helltide window can pay out on three tracks simultaneously. Here's the loop:

A note on that War Plans rep: it's now shared across characters on your account within matching partitions (Eternal/Seasonal, Hardcore/Non-Hardcore, Normal/SSF), though each character keeps a separate planner. If you're alting, the reputation you bank in Helltides on one character carries to the pool.

Soul Splinters: Keepers, Not Salvage

This is the mistake that's going to cost people the most. There are eight Soul Splinters this season — Anguish (Andariel), Sin (Azmodan), Lies (Belial), the Black Soulstone, Pain (Duriel), the Mother (Lilith), Hellfire (Na-Krul), and Damnation (Skarn). They slot into jewelry sockets only, and you can equip up to three among your available jewelry slots (amulet plus two rings — exactly three).

Here's the key: each Soul Splinter carries a powerful boon and a liability, so read both lines on the tooltip before you commit one to a socket. More importantly for your stash — Magic and Rare Soul Splinters are not salvage material. The Horadric Cube's Amalgamation recipe combines two of the same type and rarity into the next rarity up. Two matching Magic Splinters become a Rare; two matching Rares climb toward Legendary. That means a pile of "low-rarity" duplicates is actually the raw material for your eventual Unique-tier Splinter.

So when a Helltide buries you in Magic and Rare Soul Splinters, resist the salvage reflex. Bank them by type and rarity, and let the Cube do the upgrading.

Not sure whether to salvage a Helltide drop or feed it to the Cube? Scan the item for an instant keep-or-salvage verdict.

Sorting the Flood: Single Resistance Now Beats All Resistance

Helltides generate loot faster than you can read tooltips, and the single biggest change to how you sort it this season is a resistance revaluation. On the latest item tuning — still in force under the live build — a Single Resistance affix is now worth roughly SEVEN TIMES an All Resistance affix, scoped to equipment, Charms, and Tempering recipes. All Resistance Tempering values were re-tuned to line up with other All Resistance affixes.

That reverses a long-standing default. All Resistance used to be strictly better — same stat, broader coverage. Now it's a genuine trade, and in most cases a single-element resist line (Fire, Cold, Lightning, Poison, Physical, Shadow) massively outweighs an All Resistance line on dropped gear. When you're triaging a Helltide haul, an item with a fat single-resist roll is suddenly a far stronger keep than you'd have treated it a season ago. Don't let the old instinct talk you out of it.

And since you're bearing Terror and taking extra Fire damage, a strong Fire Resistance roll is doubly relevant — exactly the kind of line that used to look unremarkable and now pulls real weight.

Two More Triage Rules Worth Internalizing

While you're sorting, keep two Horadric Cube facts in your back pocket:

Between the Soul Splinter keepers, the Greater Affix candidates, and the revalued resistance lines, a Helltide haul has more "keep" in it than it looks like at a glance. That's exactly where a fast, consistent second opinion earns its keep — scan a screenshot, get an S-to-D verdict, and salvage only what's genuinely scrap.

Wrapping Up

The Season 15 Helltide loop rewards players who line things up: bear the Splinter of Terror to buff Helltides and Infernal Hordes, farm a single window for Soul Splinter drops, War Plans rep, and materials at once, and remember that only one Prime Evil Splinter rides at a time. When the loot lands, hold your Magic and Rare Soul Splinters for Amalgamation, treat Greater Affix items as Cube candidates, and weight single-element resistance far above All Resistance. Farm hard, sort smart, and keep only what moves your build forward.
