Every New Diablo 4 Season 15 Runeword Recipe
All the new Season 15 Runeword recipes and which are worth crafting. Scan your socketed gear at Stat Verdict to plan your runewords.
Season 15 — Season of Hell's Legacy — dropped a fresh batch of Runeword recipes alongside the Lord of Hatred expansion, and if you're still slotting last season's leftovers into your gear, you're leaving serious power on the table. Patch 3.2.1 reworked how runewords interact with the new Splinter systems, and some of these recipes are genuinely build-defining. Below is the full list, which ones are actually worth crafting, and how to prioritize your sockets so you don't waste a single rune.
One rule before we start: runes go in the gear sockets you'd otherwise fill with gems, not your jewelry sockets — those are reserved for Soul Splinters this season. Choose carefully.
The Full List of New Season 15 Runeword Recipes
Every runeword this season is a two-rune pair. Here's the complete lineup added in 3.2.1, grouped by what they do:
- Cindergrasp (Xol + Bac) — Fire skills deal bonus damage; each cast builds a Terror charge that detonates for AoE Fire damage.
- Rimeheart (Zan + Que) — Cold damage applies a stacking Chill; at max Chill, targets are frozen and take Cold burst damage.
- Malicewrit (Mot + Feo) — Physical skills gain increased Overpower chance and Overpower damage scales with missing enemy life.
- Warden's Oath (Ur + Tam) — Grants a barrier on cooldown use, scaling with Maximum Life; the barrier reflects a portion of blocked damage.
- Sanguine Ledger (Neo + Lith) — Life-on-hit and Life-on-kill are converted into a healing-over-time pool that persists between fights.
- Voidcaller (Kaa + Ory) — Summons a temporary shade on Ultimate cast that mirrors your last Core skill.
- Stormtithe (Vex + Noc) — Resource-spending skills have a chance to refund half their cost and chain lightning to nearby foes.
- Grave Warrant (Sol + Duu) — Minions and companions gain increased damage and a portion of your Thorns.
- Fleetscar (Ith + Ranu) — Movement Speed converts into Attack Speed above a threshold; dashing leaves a damaging trail.
Not every one of these is a winner for your build. Before you spend runes forging any of them, scan the item at statverdict.com to confirm the base affixes and Greater Affixes are worth building onto. A runeword slapped onto a C-tier base is still a C-tier item.
Best Runewords Per Class and Build Archetype
Here's where the picks separate themselves. These are the runewords actually pulling weight on the ladder right now.
Sorcerer — Fire and Cold builds
Cindergrasp is the standout for any Fire Sorc, and it's no accident — it's wired directly into the Terror Splinter's Fire identity. Frost builds want Rimeheart for the reliable Freeze uptime, which pairs naturally with Destruction Splinter Cold scaling. If you're running a hybrid caster, Stormtithe keeps your mana pool alive during long channels.
Barbarian — Overpower and Thorns
Malicewrit is the Barb crown jewel this season. Overpower builds get a flat scaling boost that plays beautifully with the Hatred Splinter's Physical bonuses. Thorns Barbs should grab Grave Warrant to push reflected damage even higher.
Necromancer — Minions and Blood
Summoner Necros want Grave Warrant hands-down — the minion damage and Thorns share make skeletal armies hit like trucks. Blood builds lean into Sanguine Ledger for near-permanent sustain, which lets you stay aggressive during War Plans reputation grinds.
Rogue — Speed and burst
Fleetscar was practically designed for Rogues. Converting overcapped Movement Speed into Attack Speed lets you break attack breakpoints you couldn't otherwise reach. Pair it with Stormtithe if you're running a resource-hungry Combo Points build.
Druid and Spiritborn — Ultimate and defense
Voidcaller shines on any build with a long-cooldown Ultimate, giving you a free echo of your Core skill. Defensively, Warden's Oath is the universal survivability pick across every class — the Life-scaled barrier is a lifesaver in high-tier content.
How Runewords Interact With the Splinter Systems
This is the part players are sleeping on. Season 15's runewords were tuned around whichever Prime Evil Splinter you're currently bearing:
- Terror (Diablo, Fire): Cindergrasp's charge detonations are amplified while you carry the Terror Splinter. Fire Sorcs and Firewall builds get the cleanest synergy.
- Destruction (Baal, Cold): Rimeheart's Chill stacking builds faster under Destruction, hitting Freeze thresholds sooner.
- Hatred (Mephisto, Physical): Malicewrit's Overpower scaling gets a direct multiplier from Hatred's Physical reputation bonuses.
Because you can only bear one Splinter at a time and each runs its own reputation track through War Plans, plan your runewords around the Splinter you're actually leveling. Don't forge Cindergrasp if you're deep into the Hatred track — you'll be wasting the synergy layer entirely.
Also worth noting: runewords occupy your equipment gem sockets, which means they compete directly with nothing on your jewelry — Soul Splinters live in your three jewelry sockets. Every Soul Splinter carries a boon and a liability, so factor that trade-off in when you decide how much defense your runewords need to make up for.
Socket Priority: Which Slots to Reserve
You've got limited socketed gear, so spend your runewords where they matter most. General priority:
- Weapon / Two-Hander: Reserve for your offensive runeword — Cindergrasp, Malicewrit, Rimeheart, or Stormtithe. This is your highest-leverage socket.
- Chest / Pants: Reserve for Warden's Oath or Sanguine Ledger. Defensive runewords scale off Life, so put them on high-Life bases.
- Helm: Flexible — Voidcaller or Grave Warrant sit comfortably here.
Two slot traps to watch this season: Nemesis Bracers occupy your GLOVES slot and Squirt's Blouse is a CHEST piece. If you're running either Legacy Unique, you lose that socket for runeword purposes — plan around it before you commit.
And remember the crafting angle: since 3.2.1, the Horadric Cube's Affix Value Reroll protects Greater Affixes while rerolling the base, so an item with strong GAs but a weak base roll is still a great runeword host — don't salvage it. Run it through statverdict.com first to confirm those GAs are worth keeping before you sink runes in.
The Verdict
Season 15's runewords are more build-integrated than any previous batch — they key directly off your Prime Evil Splinter, so your rune choices and your War Plans track should move together. Prioritize your weapon socket for offense, your chest or pants for defense, and always match the runeword to the Splinter you're leveling. Cindergrasp, Malicewrit, Rimeheart, and Warden's Oath are the safest crafts across the ladder right now.
Before you burn a single rune, scan your socketed gear at statverdict.com and get an instant verdict on whether the base is worth building on. Craft smart, not twice.
