Diablo IV Season 14 Class Tier List & Build Starters
Which class rules S14 Death Awakening? Our tier list & build starters — then grade your gear per-build at StatVerdict.
Season 14 — Death Awakening — has been live for a few weeks now, and the meta has settled enough to talk honestly about where each class lands. The Lord of Hatred expansion brought the Warlock into the fold, reworked how Uniques drop, and dropped Pandemonium Ruptures into the open world. If you're rerolling or just want to know whether your main still has legs, this is the rundown. And once you've locked in a build, remember you can scan your gear at statverdict.com for build-specific grades on what to keep, craft, or trash.
Season 14 Class Tier Snapshot
Here's the quick verdict across all eight classes as of patch 3.1.0. This is weighted toward endgame push and Pandemonium Rupture clear speed — the two things that actually matter this season.
- S Tier: Warlock, Sorcerer, Necromancer
- A Tier: Spiritborn, Rogue
- B Tier: Barbarian, Druid
- C Tier: Paladin
The new Warlock arrives overtuned, which is expected for a fresh class. Sorcerer and Necromancer both scale beautifully with the new Mythic enchanting rules. Barbarian and Druid aren't bad — they're just slower to ramp in Ruptures. Paladin's damage ceiling is real but its early-season gearing is punishing.
One Flagship Build Per Class
Every build below lists its core Unique or Mythic Unique target. Remember: any 850+ IP Unique can be crafted into a Mythic in the Horadric Cube, and enchanting a Mythic now max-rolls the added affix — that's the single biggest gearing lever this season.
Warlock — Soulrend Curse
Stacks decay-over-time curses that detonate on death. Target Grasp of the Hollow King (Mythic) for the curse-spread multiplier. Enchant in Curse Damage and Ranks to Soulrend.
Sorcerer — Frozen Orb Conjuration
The reliable S-tier pick. Core target is Tal Rasha's Iridescent Loop pushed to Mythic. Prioritize Cold Damage, Lucky Hit Chance, and Conjuration Cooldown Reduction.
Necromancer — Blood Wave
Massive AoE that shreds Rupture packs. Chase Blood Moon Breeches and craft a Mythic Ring of the Sacrilegious Soul for minion overlap. Focus Overpower Damage and Maximum Life.
Spiritborn — Quill Volley Centipede
Still fast and still fun. Aim for Rod of Kepeleke and stack Ranks to Quill Volley with Resource Cost Reduction.
Rogue — Barrage Penetrating Shot
Core target Skyhunter crafted to Mythic. Prioritize Critical Strike Damage, Vulnerable Damage, and Energy on Kill.
Barbarian — Bash Overpower
The tankiest Rupture farmer. Target Ramaladni's Magnum Opus and stack Overpower Damage, Fury Cost Reduction, and Weapon Damage.
Druid — Lightning Storm Companion
Slow start, strong finish. Chase Tempest Roar and craft a Mythic when it hits 850+ IP. Focus Willpower, Ranks to Lightning Storm, and Cooldown Reduction.
Paladin — Consecration Aegis
The hardest to gear but a monster once online. Target Halo of the Zealot and stack Holy Damage, Block Chance, and Thorns.
How Pandemonium Rupture Synergies Differ by Class
Pandemonium Ruptures spawn portal tears across the world that you close before hunting down the Realmwalkers guarding them. The catch: your clear efficiency here depends heavily on your class's ramp profile.
- Instant-ramp classes (Sorcerer, Warlock, Necromancer) close tears fastest because their AoE is up the moment they arrive. These classes should chain Ruptures aggressively.
- Burst-window classes (Rogue, Spiritborn) want to save cooldowns for the Realmwalker rather than the trash — line up your buffs before the boss spawns.
- Sustain classes (Barbarian, Druid, Paladin) shine on the largest multi-tear Ruptures where their durability lets them hold ground while packs stack. Don't chase small tears; wait for the big spawns.
Whatever you're running, keep an eye on your item drops from Realmwalkers — any Magic or Rare with a Greater Affix is a Horadric Cube crafting candidate, so never salvage those. When you're not sure whether a drop is worth keeping, snap it and let statverdict.com give you the S/A/B/C/D verdict instantly.
Runeword Socket Priorities for Endgame Builds
Runewords are still your flex slot for pushing past the wall, but socket priority shifts by role. Here's the general framework:
- Cooldown-dependent builds (Frozen Orb, Lightning Storm, Consecration): prioritize resource-generating rune pairs so you can keep your rotation online without downtime.
- DoT and curse builds (Soulrend, Blood Wave): lean into runes that extend damage-over-time duration or amplify your primary damage type.
- Burst builds (Barrage, Quill Volley): stack conditional multipliers that trigger on Lucky Hit or on entering combat — you want the spike, not the sustain.
Slot your two best runewords into your highest-IP weapon and amulet first, since those slots carry your largest multipliers. Everything else is secondary until your core Mythic is crafted and enchanted.
A Quick Note on Two-Affix Uniques
Every Unique now drops with two guaranteed affixes, which completely changes the "is this worth keeping" math. A Unique that would've been vendor trash last season might now roll two usable stats out of the gate — and since enchanting works on Uniques too, you can fix the one bad line. Before you dismiss any Unique, check both affixes against your build. If you're not sure, that's exactly what StatVerdict is for.
The Verdict
Warlock, Sorcerer, and Necromancer are the safe S-tier picks for a fast Season 14 start, but every class has a viable flagship build and a clear Mythic target to chase. Match your playstyle to a build, learn how your class handles Ruptures, and prioritize your weapon and amulet runeword slots first. The gearing loop this season is deeper than ever thanks to Mythic crafting and two-affix Uniques — so don't guess on your drops. Picked your build?
