Mythic Uniques Are Changing Forever on June 30: What You Need to Know

On June 30, Shako, The Grandfather, and all Mythic Uniques gain variable affixes. Here's what the Legacy transition means, when to spend Resplendent Sparks, and how StatVerdict grades these items post-patch.

The Biggest Mythic Change Since Launch

Season 14 is changing how every Mythic Unique item works. Starting June 30, Mythic Uniques — including Shako (Harlequin Crest), The Grandfather, and all other top-tier items in this slot — will have at least one variable affix that can roll across a stat range rather than being fixed.

This is not a small quality-of-life update. This fundamentally changes what it means to "have" a Shako or a Grandfather.

What "Legacy" Means

Mythic Uniques you already own before June 30 will be converted to "Legacy" status. Legacy items retain their current fixed-affix values but cannot benefit from new crafting interactions that require the variable affix system. They are grandfathered in — their stats don't change — but they are now second-class items in a variable-affix world.

The Resplendent Spark Decision

If you are holding Resplendent Sparks right now and were planning to craft a Mythic, this changes your calculus:

Crafting before June 30 gives you a fixed-affix item that becomes "Legacy." All stats are known and guaranteed. No RNG on the variable affix.
Crafting on or after June 30 means you can roll the variable affix — potentially higher than the fixed value — but you might also roll low. You can re-roll it via Horadric Cube, but that costs materials.

The conventional wisdom is to wait until after June 30 if you have patience for RNG, because a near-max variable affix roll on a Mythic is meaningfully stronger than the fixed Legacy value. But if you are playing Season 13 hard until the end, a Legacy Mythic still clears all current content.

Two Mythics to Avoid Right Now

Tibault's Will and Heir of Perdition are both confirmed to receive significant nerfs when Season 14 launches June 30. Do not invest Resplendent Sparks into either of these before the patch — the items you craft today will be weaker versions the moment S14 goes live.

What StatVerdict Grades Look Like Post-June 30

Once Season 14 launches, StatVerdict will evaluate Mythic Uniques for:

Whether the variable affix rolled near-maximum — a near-max roll raises the grade
Whether the item is Legacy vs. new-format — flagged in the analysis
Horadric Cube upgrade potential on the variable affix slot

This means a Shako with a low variable affix roll may receive a lower grade than a Legacy Shako from Season 13 — for the first time ever, Mythic quality now has a spectrum.

Bottom Line

Every Mythic Unique becomes "Legacy" on June 30 — your existing stats are locked and safe, but the item type is being superseded. New Mythics after June 30 will have one variable affix with real RNG. Decide whether to spend Resplendent Sparks before or after the patch based on how much you value certainty vs. ceiling. For most players, waiting is worth it — the ceiling is higher and the Horadric Cube keeps the floor manageable.
