Spiritborn Counterswarm Is Still Meta — And Your S14 Pre-Launch Checklist
The Rushing Claw nerf hits Spiritborn but Counterswarm survives. Plus: a complete checklist of what to buy, sell, and hold before Season 14 drops June 30.
Spiritborn After the Rushing Claw Nerf
Spiritborn players feared the worst when Rushing Claw was targeted in the S14 PTR. Here's the actual damage: a 2-second cooldown increase and Charge Refund on elite kills removed. For mobility-heavy Jaguar builds, this is a meaningful hit to uptime. For Counterswarm — the reactive Centipede Spirit swarm build — it's largely irrelevant.
Counterswarm Survives Intact
Evade Counterswarm uses the Centipede Spirit's reactive swarm mechanic, triggered on taking a hit rather than on an active skill activation. The Rushing Claw cooldown changes do not touch this trigger mechanism. Counterswarm is fully S14-viable.
Poison Swarm Evade — the passive DOT variant via Ring of Writhing Moon — is similarly unaffected. Both Evade builds carry their Season 13 strength into S14.
What Did Get Hit
Pure mobility builds using Rushing Claw as a primary gap-closer for Pit speed runs lose some uptime efficiency. The charge refund removal is the bigger pain point — elite packs no longer reset your charges mid-pull. Expect slightly longer Jaguar Rush clear times, but this is not a build-killing change.
Your Season 14 Pre-Launch Checklist
June 30 is 10 days away. Here's what to do before the patch drops.
🔴 Sell Now — Loses Value June 30
Aspect of Limitless Rage on weapons or off-hands — the uncapped Fury loop is dead, the capped version isn't worth a build slot
Dominate Glyph optimized gear — 50× damage reduction kills the payoff entirely
Ball Lightning tick-amplification items — Aspect of Control, high +BL rank rolls — top-end ceiling removed
Tibault's Will and Heir of Perdition — both confirmed nerfed in S14, do not invest further
🟢 Hold or Equip — Retains or Gains Value
Spiritborn Counterswarm and Evade build pieces — unaffected, carry forward clean
Hammer of the Ancients Barbarian gear — strongest pivot from Whirlwind post-nerf
Minion Barb and Golem Necromancer gear — both untouched by S14 nerfs
Ice Shards Sorcerer items — primary beneficiary of Ball Lightning players pivoting
🟡 Wait — Decide After June 30
Resplendent Sparks — new Mythic variable affixes may roll higher than Legacy fixed values; hold until S14
Any Mythic Unique craft — crafting before June 30 locks in a Legacy fixed roll; after June 30 you can chase the ceiling
Use StatVerdict to Clean Your Stash
The fastest way to audit your inventory before June 30 is to screenshot your questionable pieces and run them through StatVerdict. The scanner factors S14 PTR changes into its grading — items tied to nerfed builds surface lower grades and explicit SELL signals. Ten days is enough time to liquidate smartly rather than panic-salvaging on June 29.
Bottom Line
Spiritborn is in the strongest position of any class heading into Season 14 — the Rushing Claw nerf is real but doesn't touch the Counterswarm and Evade variants that define the meta. The bigger story is the Barbarian and Sorcerer resets. Sell the nerfed-build items now, hold your Resplendent Sparks for the variable affix system, and use the next 10 days to position rather than panic.
